Pilkada1 candidacy: party partnerships or not

To what extent are political coalitions at the national level replicated at the sub-national levels? Are some parties more likely to partner with some and not other parties? More importantly which parties partner with which ones and vice versa?

This report examines the patterns of partnership between the parties. The basis of the study is the 270 pilkada that were conducted together on 9 December 2015. As should be expected not all parties participate in supporting a candidate in every pilkada. The following chart indicates the total number of pilkada in which each party competed.
